01 The Room That Bakes All Afternoon

Blinds fight the heat after it's already inside.

By mid-afternoon a west-facing room can be the one everybody avoids — the glass takes the sun for hours and radiates it straight inside. Interior blinds and curtains only trap that heat against the glass, in the room. An exterior solar screen stops it on the outside of the window — the U.S. Department of Energy rates exterior shading the most effective way to cut solar heat gain — so the room stays livable and the AC stops fighting the windows.

You still see out — from inside, you look right through the weave. From the street, the window just reads as dark mesh, so you get daytime privacy without losing the view. The studs bond to the frame or trim with 3M™ VHB, so there's no drilling into the siding, and the shades snap off whenever you want the sun back.

05Questions

Will I still be able to see out of my windows?

Yes. The mesh is see-through from inside — you look out through the weave while it stops up to 90% of the solar heat before it ever reaches the glass. From the street, the window just reads as dark mesh, so you also get daytime privacy without losing the view.

Does it screw into my siding or window frames?

No. The studs bond to the window frame or trim with 3M™ VHB — no screws, no holes in the siding, and nothing that voids a window warranty. The bond reaches full strength in about 72 hours.

Can I install it myself?

Yes. The mesh cuts with ordinary household scissors and won't fray, so there's no hemming — most homeowners shade a full sun-facing side of the house themselves, at their own pace.

Will it fit a bay window?

Yes. The mesh is cut to fit any window — for a bay window you snap a panel over each facet. Choose ready-made precut panels or a 6 ft-wide roll you cut to fit.

Black or white mesh for a house?

Black blocks up to ~90% of the heat and glare — best for a west-facing room that bakes all afternoon. White is a more open weave that keeps rooms brighter.
