No-drill exterior skylight shades

Exterior skylight covers that block heat.

An uncovered skylight turns midday sun into an oven for the room below. EZ Snap exterior shades mount on the outside of the glass and stop the heat before it ever reaches your window, blocking up to 90% of it. The knitted mesh keeps daylight and your view while cutting the glare and the heat load. No-drill snaps, cut to fit, and fully removable.

Stop the heat outside the glass, not after it is already in the room.

01 Why outside wins

An interior blind traps the heat. An exterior shade stops it.

An interior blind or shade sits behind the glass, so the sun still passes straight through and heats up the space between the pane and the blind. That trapped heat radiates right back into the room. EZ Snap works the other way around. Because the mesh mounts on the outside, it intercepts the sun before it ever touches the glass, blocking up to 90% of the heat while the knitted weave keeps your daylight and your view. Less heat through the skylight means a cooler room and less work for your air conditioning.

02 No-drill install

Snaps on the curb, cut to fit, off again whenever you want.

The patented snap studs use 3M VHB adhesive, so they press onto the skylight curb or frame with no drilling and no holes. Peel, stick, and let them cure. Trim the mesh to your skylight with household scissors, then snap the shade on. When you want the winter sun back or need to clean the glass, the shade unsnaps in seconds and snaps right back on. Every kit is backed by a Limited Lifetime materials warranty.

03Questions

Skylight shade questions,
answered.

Q. 01

How do you cover a skylight from the outside?

You mount the snap studs onto the skylight curb or frame with the built-in 3M VHB adhesive, no drilling required. Then you cut the mesh shade to fit with household scissors and snap it on over the glass. Because it sits on the outside, it stops the sun before it reaches the pane.

Q. 02

Is an exterior shade really better than an interior blind?

Yes. An interior blind lets the sun pass through the glass first, so the heat gets trapped between the pane and the blind and radiates back into the room. An EZ Snap exterior shade blocks up to 90% of that heat outside the glass, before it can build up. It is the difference between stopping heat and managing it after it is already inside.

Q. 03

Will it actually reduce heat and cooling bills?

The mesh blocks up to 90% of the sun's heat and blocks UV before it reaches the glass, so the room below stays cooler and your air conditioning does not have to fight a hot skylight all afternoon. Skylights are one of the biggest solar heat gains in a home, so shading them from outside makes a real difference on hot days.

Q. 04

Do I have to drill into my skylight?

No. The patented snap studs attach with 3M VHB adhesive, so there are zero holes in your frame or curb. Clean the surface, press the studs on, and let the adhesive cure. If you ever want to remove the studs, the adhesive comes off cleanly.

Q. 05

Will it fit a domed or curb-mounted skylight?

In most cases, yes. The shade is knitted mesh that you cut to fit with scissors, and the snaps go on the flat curb or frame around the skylight rather than on the dome itself. That lets a single kit cover flat, curb-mounted, and domed skylights. Measure the frame you can mount to and build your kit to that size.

Q. 06

How much does it cost?

Precut exterior shades start at $24.99, and you can build a custom kit sized to your skylight from there. Shipping is free on orders over $225, and every kit carries a Limited Lifetime materials warranty.
